American Academy of Professional Coders is another body apart from AHIMA which provides certification for medical coding established in 1988 in the United States of America in Utah. They provide education and certification to physician-based medical coders and billers. In 2010 their services expanded beyond Medical and outpatient coding throughout the world. AAPC gives training and certification such as medical coding Certification, medical billing certification, and some specialty based certifications. Apart from that, they provide certification on medical auditing medical compliance, and physician practice management. The total number of memberships with AAPC is 190,000 throughout the world.
